What is Tirzepatide?

A glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, Tirzepatide was approved by the FDA in March 2022 for use in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control.

A comparative study compared Tirzepatide to Semaglutide showed an additional 24% reduction in HbA1c. Phase III trial results showed that Tirzepatide was neither inferior nor superior to Semaglutide with respect to the mean change in HbA1c from baseline to 40 weeks in patients with type 2 diabetes.

The results of the 40-week study also showed that Tirzepatide (5mg, 10mg, 15mg) outperformed Semaglutide (1mg) in reducing body weight. It was observed that up to 80% of users who took 5mg had at least a 5% (15lb) body weight reduction; at 10mg, 45% had a 10% (20lb) reduction; and at 15mg, up to 36% had a 15% (25lb) body weight reduction compared to 54%, 24%, and 8% of Semaglutide users.

The results of a 40-week study demonstrate that Tyrzepatide (5mg, 10mg, 15mg) offers at least 30%, 60%, and up to 95% greater weight loss than Semaglutide 1mg.

Healthy Body Index Tool

Looking to better understand your health at a glance? Our Body Mass Index (BMI) and Body Fat Percentage (BFP) Calculator is a simple, user-friendly tool that helps you gauge where you stand on the spectrum of healthy weight.

Body Fat Percentage Calculator (#4)

Key Factors to Keep in Mind

  • Age Matters: As we grow older, healthy body fat ranges naturally shift upward.

  • Data Accuracy: The quality of your results depends on how accurate your height, weight, and measurements are.

  • Limitations of Calculators: Online calculators provide estimates only. For a clearer picture, advanced methods such as DXA scans or professional body composition testing may be recommended.

BMI vs. Body Fat Percentage: What’s the Difference?

When it comes to understanding your health, both Body Mass Index (BMI) and Body Fat Percentage (BFP) can provide valuable insights. While they are related, they measure different things:

  • BMI is a simple calculation based on your height and weight. It’s widely used to categorize individuals into ranges such as underweight, healthy, overweight, or obese. However, BMI does not distinguish between fat, muscle, or bone mass.

  • Body Fat Percentage (BFP) goes a step further by estimating how much of your body weight is fat compared to lean mass (muscle, bone, organs, and water). BFP gives a clearer picture of your body composition and overall health.

Our calculator uses your age, gender, height, and weight to provide both BMI and BFP results—so you can see a more complete view of your health.

At Palm Coast Family Practice, our doctor-supervised weight loss program combines BMI and BFP analysis with personalized care. Instead of relying solely on averages, we provide tailored guidance to help you safely achieve and maintain your healthiest weight.
